MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker's administration is admitting it made a mistake when retroactively increasing the pay of Capitol police chief David Erwin.
Erwin was moved to a fake job and then back to his normal post as a way to increase his pay from $99,000 to $111,000 a year.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel obtained an email from Gregory Murray, the chief counsel for the Department of Administration, sent to an attorney for the legislature.
In the message, Murray acknowledged the raise was a mistake.
He says the department will recoup the retroactive payments.
That means they will take back $720 from Erwin.
