MADISON (WKOW) – The Wisconsin State Patrol is participating in a nationwide event on Sunday that is designed to prevent large truck crashes.
"Brake Safety Week" runs through Saturday, September 14 and is sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.
The State Patrol will be intensifying its brake inspection efforts during the week to identify faulty braking systems on large trucks or other commercial motor vehicles.
The inspectors also plan to educate drivers, mechanics and commercial motor vehicle companies about the importance of routine brake checks and how to maintain them properly.
The patrol says large truck crashes have dropped nearly 26 percent since 2003.
