MILTON (WKOW) --- A Milton man is being commended for fighting a fire he noticed while driving by.
22-year-old Edward Berlanga was driving on North Janesville Street Wednesday afternoon when he saw flames from a home on the 900 block of Nelson Avenue.
Berlanga stopped and called 911.
He then grabbed a hose from the home and starting putting out the flames on the 2nd floor balcony.
Police arrived on scene while Berlanga was putting out the fire.
Police took over until firefighters arrived.
At the time of the fire, there was an adult male home who came out of the house after the fire was put out.
Officials commend Berlanga for his actions as the fire could have endangered the lone resident home at the time.
