UPDATE (WKOW) -- An autopsy is underway in a Madison death investigation. Police pulled a body from the lagoon at Warner Park Friday afternoon.
All law enforcement agencies have been cleared of the scene. Police have tentatively identified the body as a Madison man in his 50s.
Authorities say a child, fishing in the lagoon, spotted the body while with a school group. The Wisconsin State Journal reports it was a small group of 8th grade students from Sherman Middle School.
Warner Park regular John Zaring says he was eating lunch with his family when he saw all the commotion. "Turn around and I seen a bunch of school kids come up. Well, they were playing for about a good half hour or so, and then I see a teacher push them off across the bridge over here," he tells 27 News.
Madison Police say it looks like the body was in the water for about a day but they have no reason to suspect foul play at this point. The Dane County Medical Examiner's office says it'll be Saturday afternoon at the earliest, until they release the man's name.
