TAYLOR COUNTY (WKOW) – A 27-year-old man is in custody after shooting a sheriff's deputy in Taylor County on Sunday.
Authorities say the male deputy was airlifted to the hospital. Investigators haven't said where the deputy was shot or what hospital he is at for treatment.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff's Department, they responded to a home in Westboro around 6:30 p.m. for reports that the suspect had violated a court order. Authorities say that is when the standoff started and the suspect shot the deputy. The suspect then ran from the scene but was caught about 3 hours later.
Authorities say no one else was hurt in the incident.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded, some from as far away as Eau Claire County.
Investigators haven't revealed how or why the standoff started, but the investigation is ongoing.
