Clement named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

MADISON -- Wisconsin RB Corey Clement has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday, after his second-straight 100-yard rushing performance in the Badgers' 48-0 win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
Clement ran wild in the second half against the Golden Eagles, rushing 13 times for a career-high 149 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-long 75-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He also had a 1-yard touchdown plunge.
The Glassboro, N.J., native's effort helped the Badgers produce three 100-yard rushers for the second time in as many games this season. Wisconsin has now accomplished that feat in three of its last four games.
With his performance against Tennessee Tech, Clement became one of just six FBS true freshmen to open a career with back-to-back 100-yard rushing games since Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson set the NCAA freshman record with nine consecutive 100-yard games to begin a career in 2004.
Clement's 101-yard game versus UMass made him the first Badger to rush for 100 yards in his debut since redshirt freshman P.J. Hill ran for 130 yards in a 35-14 win over Bowling Green on Sept. 2, 2006.
With this week's Big Ten honor, Clement becomes the first Badgers player to be named Freshman of the Week since RB James White on Nov. 22, 2010. White was named Freshman of the Week four times that season on his way to winning the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award.
