TAYLOR COUNTY (WKOW) – The man accused of shooting a Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy is behind bars on a $1 million cash bond.
Officials identified the suspect as 27-year-old Alexander Schneider. He was arrested in Westboro after a manhunt and shooting in eastern Taylor County Sunday night.
Schneider appeared in court on Monday for a bond hearing. Police are recommending charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
Police say Schneider shot Deputy Chad Kowalcyzk when he tried to contact Schneider for violating a court order. Officers say Kowalcyzk was hurt but was able to call dispatchers for help.
