MADISON (WKOW) -- About 34 residents are displaced after an overnight fire near the UW-Madison campus.
The fire caused about $125,000 in damages. Crews are still investigating the cause. Firefighters ventilated smoke from the building and checked for any fire extension in the attic and walls. Madison Gas and Electric responded to the scene to turn off the building's natural gas service.
The fire happened about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday on the 200 block of West Lakelawn Place. Crews saw a large amount of fire showing from the roof of the building when they arrived.
The American Red Cross is helping those displaced residents.
