VERONA (WKOW) -- The Dane County Sheriff's Department had a lone deputy provide security at Tumbledown Trails on Wednesday after backlash from a promotion offered by the golf course.
"The phone calls and the voicemails I'm going through from first responders from New York that were there at the site telling me how proud they are of what we're doing and keeping this in the limelight, out in front of everybody so nobody ever forgets. That's exactly what we were going for here. It makes me feel so good. I'm happy," said course owner and GM Marc Watts.
The golf course had been running the 9/11 special since 2010.
