MADISON (WKOW) -- A member of the Sun Prairie School Board volunteered for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Dane County School Friends program and made a life-long friend.
In our continuing series, 27 Kids Who Matter, Jill and Jamiyah have become fast friends. They were matched about one year ago.
"It will be a year this fall. We started out just chatting and playing 'Uno.' Jamiyah is the 'Uno' queen," says Jill Camber-Davidson.
Jill and Jamiyah enjoy playing cards, making pizza and decorating flip-flops. Jill helped Jamiyah tour her high school. Jamiyah will take chemistry during this fall semester.
"It has been great to have someone to check-in on me and see how school is going and what I'm doing," says Jamiyah.
Jill and Jamiyah have taken their friendship to the next level. They have transitioned to the community-based program, but they both recommend the School Friends program through Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Dane County.
"It lets you be a kid again in some way," says Jill. "It really is a fun experience."
