MADISON (WKOW) -- The Associated Press recently conducted a national bridge review and deemed thousands of bridges across the country "fracture critical" and "structurally deficient", including 60 bridges in Wisconsin.
State Department of Transportation officials say that all but 27 of the original 60 bridges have already been repaired, replaced, closed, or set for repairs by 2017.
Additionally, DOT Structures Bureau Director Scot Beckers stated there unfortunately isn't enough money for all the repairs, but if the DOT determines a bridge as unsafe, actions are taken by either placing weight limits on the bridge or closing it down completely.
