GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- A group of protesters were in Green Bay for the Packers-Redskins game, asking the Washington, D.C. team to change their name.
Demonstrators tell our Green Bay affiliate WBAY-TV that using a race-based mascot is offensive. They're trying to encourage discussion across the football league.
"We're trying to give a face, a human face, to the message that Indian race-based mascot stereotyping is harmful to children," Barbara Munson said, with the Wisconsin Indian Education Association.
Last week NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said these concerns do need to be heard, but said the decision would be made by the team's owner.
