MADISON (WKOW) -- Miss Wisconsin earned a spot in the Miss America semi-finals.
Mount Pleasant-native Paula Mae Kuiper competed in the Miss America pageant Sunday evening.
Her platform issue has been "Breaking the Age Barrier," and she listed her grandmother as the inspiration behind it.
Though, Kuiper and the other contestants lost to Miss New York, Nina Davuluri.
Davuluri, 24, is the first Indian-American to wear the Miss America Crown. She won a $50,000 scholarship, and plans to use it to pay for graduate school. Davuluri is an aspiring doctor.
