SUPERIOR (WKOW) – A proposed oil shipping terminal on Lake Superior has been put on hold.
The proposal would have shipped crude from the oil fields in North Dakota to the East Coast.
Refinery managers say the size and cost of the terminal would be too high without an East Coast partner and no one has stepped up to fill that void.
Some in the industry aren't surprised. They say it doesn't make economic sense to move crude on the Great Lakes because they feel the rail is more efficient.
