HATHWAY, LOUISIANA (WKOW) – A young girl has become an internet sensation after her meeting with President Obama went viral online.
Five-year-old Alanah Poullard is the daughter of a soldier wounded in Afghanistan who was being honored at the White House for her services.
Alanah is pictured with the president at the White House and took home a memento from President Obama made just for her.
Her dad explains the nerve-wracking meet and greet. Stacy Poullard says, "She went straight for him, then I thought the Secret Service would stop her. No one approached her. And she jumped into his arms, threw her arms around his neck, he gave her a hug and a kiss. They were maybe 50 feet away, but I have no idea what they said."
Alanah says she asked President Obama to write her an excuse letter for school and that is exactly what he did.
