DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- Officials have introduced a 2014 spending plan for Dane County.

County Executive Joe Parisi released details of the budget Tuesday, including a $508 million operating budget and a $45 million capital budget.

Part of the budget gives funding to a partnership with Operation Fresh Start. The plan would create a Dane County Youth Conservation Corps. That team of young people would clean up county parks.

"This partnership will benefit our lakes, it will benefit our lands, it will benefit everyone in the county who enjoys our natural resources, and it will provide young people with an opportunity to succeed," says Parisi.

Parisi also dedicated $15 million for a new Medical Examiner's office and to cover costs of planning a new county jail.

The budget goes to the Dane County Board for approval, which could happen in mid-November.
