STEVENS POINT (WKOW) – A Stevens Point man is flying his American flag upside down because he is fed up with the politicians in Washington.
Walter Blanchard is encouraging others to do the same if they are frustrated over the federal government shutdown and congressional bickering.
There is no state or local laws against flying the flag upside down. The Department of Veteran Affairs says an inverted U.S. flag is a sign of distress. Blanchard says that is exactly why he is choosing to hang his flag upside down.
Some local residents tell our sister station in Wausau, WAOW-TV, that it is a disgrace to the country.
