ADAMS COUNTY (WKOW) -- An Adams County sheriff's deputy, shot while on duty, is back on the job.
Todd Johnson received a special award for what he calls a life-changing moment.
He was shot in the lower abdomen in February while responding to a domestic violence call at a cabin in Big Flats.
"All I remember is the female inside the house, came running out towards myself and officers, and the gentleman who shot at me, took two shots at her then shot at me and I immediately fell to the ground."
After six months of recovery, Johnson returned to duty and a surprise last month.
He received a Purple Heart for law enforcement officers.
