LA CROSSE (WKOW) -- The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has announced its ROTC program is among 13 that will be closed nationwide.
The La Crosse Tribune reports the university received a letter from an Army official saying the programs were being shut down a result of "a reduction in resources."
The La Crosse program serves more than 50 students at schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Other affected universities are UW-La Crosse, Viterbo University, Winona State University and Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow says the program brought a lot of honor and pride to the campus.
