MADISON (WKOW)-- Two murders happened in the city of Madison in less than 48 hours this week. Madison Police say both were isolated incidents and don't pose a threat to the general public.
"Both of the homicides that took place this week took place inside residences and we believe were both targeted in the sense that they were not random acts of violence," Madison Police Spokesman Joel Despain says.
The two homicides bring this year's total in Madison to five. The highest number of homicides the Madison Police Department has seen was ten back in 2008, but since the year 2000 they've seen an average of five homicides a year.
Madison police were able to catch three suspects in the more recent of the two homicide cases. Manford White, Anthony White and Tavon Meyers were arrested Friday night on tentative charges for first degree intentional homicide.
This incident happened early Friday morning on Morraine View Drive in Madison. A 43-year-old male was found dead inside a home. The Dane County Medical Examiner's office determined that it was a homicide when an autopsy revealed internal injuries that showed the man died of internal bleeding. Witnesses told officers that the man was involved in a physical altercation with several men inside the apartment early Friday morning.
Just 26 hours earlier, Madison police were called about a separate incident involving a shooting at Fish Hatchery Road. Officers found 30-year-old Lamontez White inside his apartment with a gunshot wound. White was pronounced dead on scene. Police say a toddler, a teenager and other individuals were present during the shooting.
Madison police haven't been able to narrow down a suspect in the case. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014. You can also visit their website at http://madisonareacrimestoppers.org/
