MADISON (WKOW) -- University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of the Registrar reports an increase in Wisconsin residents attending the school.
Data shows that out of this year's freshman class of 6,339 students, 3,837 of them are from Wisconsin. This the largest number of Wisconsin residents in a freshman class since 2001.
In a second UW record African-American, Hispanic and Asian-American students now constitute about 11 percent of the class, which is the largest percent in the past decade.
Total enrollment of at UW-Madison this fall was 43,256 undergraduate students, with 26.8 percent of them from out of state.
