JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- A Jefferson County judge will hold a secret hearing on the 1988 drowning of an 8-year-old boy, according to the Journal Times.
The hearing will help determine if criminal charges could be filed in the case after the boy's mother, Carmin White, said there were conflicting investigation reports.
The boy, Artis Echole, had been vacationing with his foster family at the time of the drowning. One of the reports involved three children who said they saw a man holding the boy's head under water to make him swim.
The case has been open since January, but so far District Attorney Susan Happ says no evidence has been found to suggest any crime was committed.
The hearing will be held December 5 in Jefferson, and will be conducted by Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Weston.
