WASHINGTON (WKOW) – A $10 Million donation will keep Head Start programs open through the end of October.
The Huffington Post reports Laura and John Arnold will donate emergency funds to the Head Start program. The funds will mainly go to the southern states such as Alabama and Florida. About 7,000 kids from low-income families could return to Head Start classrooms as early as Tuesday to continue their education.
The government shutdown has pulled funding for Head Start classrooms forcing to consider closing.
If the shutdown continues into November, tens of thousands of children will be at risk of losing their childcare and pre-K services.
