WAUKEGAN, IL (WKOW) -- A suburban Chicago judge has sentenced a Lake Villa man to life in prison for the 2006 strangulation death of a Lindenhurst Burger King manager.
48-year-old James Ealy was found guilty in May for the murder of 45-year-old Mary Hutchison, of Trevor, Wisconsin. Ealy strangled Hutchison with her uniform bow tie and then stole $1,700. Wednesday, the prosecutor on the case, Jeffrey Pavletic, told the judge Ealy is "despicable".
Ealy did speak before his sentence was handed down. He denied committing the crime, saying police "railroaded" him. Ealy's public defender plans to appeal.
In 1982, Ealy was convicted in the deaths of a Chicago woman and her three children. The conviction was overturned on a technicality by an appellate court.
