MADISON (WKOW) -- A blizzard hit South Dakota more than a week ago, but its impact could soon be felt in Wisconsin with our beef prices.
Ranchers are still rounding up their herds. Agriculture officials estimate tens of thousands of cattle died in the storm and that could lead to higher beef prices.
"You are likely to see an increase in prices for cattle as they try to get them to market," said Heather Schlesser, Marathon County UW-Extention.
Schlesser says while the losses will initially impact the cattle industry it will likely trickle down to the pocketbook of anyone who buys beef.
