MILWAUKEE (WKOW) – Democratic state Rep. Jon Richards announced he will enter the race for Wisconsin attorney general.
Richards filed his paperwork on Wednesday to compete for the seat being vacated by Republican J.B. Van Hollen who is not seeking re-election.
Since 1999, Richards has represented part of the city of Milwaukee in the State Legislature, while continuing to practice law.
Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, a Republican, was the first candidate to officially enter the race. Both Schimel and Richards say the alarming increase in the rate of heroin abuse is among the issues that would address as attorney general.
