SHAWANO (WKOW) -- A 13-year-old Shawano County boy must register as a sex offender, but the public may never know who or where he is.
The state appeals court made the ruling following the boy's conviction in juvenile court for assaulting an eight-year-old girl he had been babysitting.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections told a Green Bay news station any juvenile who registers as a sex offender will not appear on the state's website. There are nearly 23,000 people required to register as sex offenders in Wisconsin and nearly 1,500 were convicted of crimes as juveniles. Their information is not available to the public.
