MADISON (WKOW) --- Like other text message providers, we held a re-opt-in process via text messages Monday and Tuesday to comply with new federal consumer protection law which takes effect on October 16th.
The federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) was originally designed to protect consumers from telemarketer harassment. It now covers SMS text messaging because these messages are also delivered by phone.
If you did not respond to the text messages on Monday and Tuesday, you will need to re-sign up.
This includes Severe Weather Alerts, School Closings, Daily Weather, Breaking News, and our Mobile Rewards Clubs.
We want to keep you informed on what is going on in your community.
We also want to you to continue to get free offers from many area businesses with our mobile rewards club.
