MADISON (WKOW) -- The pink flamingos have returned to Bascom Hill.
The plastic flock grew this week as part of the UW Alumni Association's annual fund drive.
As more donations came in this week, more flamingos were added to the hill.
The goal is $11 million from more than 10% of the UW alums.
"One of the reasons we were excited to actually plant the flamingos in
the hill was so that students can actually see how much alumni support
them and support the university," says Wendy Hathaway of the UW Alumni Association.
The pink flamingos began their legend at the UW in 1979 as part of a student government campaign led by the Pail and Shovel party.
