WASHINGTON (WKOW) – President Barack Obama has signed a short-term plan to refund the government and raise the debt ceiling Wednesday night.
Obama says the U.S. will start reopening the government right away and furloughed workers are expected to head back to work Thursday morning. He also says now it's time to win back the trust of Americans that's been lost during the crisis.
The bill that Obama signed after the Senate passed the measure will open the government through January 15 and extend the nation's borrowing authority through February 7. Obama says once these issues are resolved, he wants to move forward this year on immigration, farm legislation and a larger budget deal.
