GLENDALE (WKOW) – The owner of three McDonald's restaurants on the north side of Milwaukee is accused of using the businesses to fund his drug trafficking scheme.
According to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Milwaukee, 38-year-old Edward Patterson, of Whitefish Bay, is charged with conspiracy to deliver marijuana, money laundering and possession with intent to deliver.
The indictment names five other defendants who are accused of obtaining large amounts of marijuana from California for distribution in the Milwaukee area.
The Journal Sentinel reports that Patterson owns McDonald's restaurants in Glendale, Fox Point and Mequon.
Authorities say 15 search warrants were executed in relation to the case. In addition to marijuana, agents seized 11 guns and $90,000 in cash.
