Wisconsin students "Make Bo Pay"

MADISON (WKOW) -- Bo Ryan has made a living teaching kids the proper way to shoot a basketball. On this day, however, he just sat back and enjoyed the show.

"We've had people make them over their heads, underhand. We had one soccer player try to kick it in, and he was pretty close."

Ryan didn't care how they shot the ball. He just wanted to see the it go through the hoop. The Badgers basketball coach was hosting his second "Shooting Down Cancer" event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Ryan invited Wisconsin students to come to Kohl Center and "Make Bo Pay" by knocking down a few jumpers. The coach pledged $10 for every made free throw and $1,000 for every made half-court shot. He also donated $1 for every student that just showed up for the event. In the end, 2,090 students forced Ryan to cough up $66,130 to the American Cancer Society. Ryan opened his wallet with a smile.

"We're more than happy to make the donation for such a good cause. I still think the cure is going to be found right here in Madison. So, we're going to keep trying."
