MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A Milwaukee police detective beat a handcuffed suspect, and it was caught on tape. Court records show that the prosecutors are refusing to give the video to the suspect's attorney.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the recording shows Detective Rodolfo Gomez Jr. punching Deron Love, who pleaded not guilty in the death of his infant son. The department asked the district attorney's office to file criminal charges against Gomez.
Love's lawyer filed a motion to force prosecutors to turn over the video along with records of the internal affairs and criminal cases.
Prosecutors say they don't plan to call Gomez to testify against Love, and the details of the investigations and video are irrelevant.
The incident happened on August 14th.
