MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison will conduct a national search for its next police chief.
After taking public input, the city's Police and Fire Commission says it will open the process to the widest range of applicants, including candidates from within and outside the department.
The panel has said it hopes to have a new chief picked by early next year.
Former chief Noble Wray retired last month.
