MADISON (WKOW) -- Three young women began their journey from Madison to Chicago Friday morning.
Abby, Megan and Melanie Walker, 24-year-old triplets from Waunakee, are making the 150-mile trek to raise funds for Haiti Allies.
Haiti Allies is a Madison-based non-profit organization that has been in a partnership with Haitians for over 20 years. The organization's efforts are centered around leadership and capacity building, education, technical training, food and housing.
The sisters planned to walk 20 miles on Friday, and hope to end in Chicago on November 2.
The girls plan to use the money they raise from the walk to go specifically towards Haiti Allies' partnership with Citè Soleil Community School in Haiti.
"It was a temporary structure, and its really gotten tore up from the hurricanes and the three-year-ago earthquake, so we really want to rebuild that structure," Abby Walker said.
