Suspect identified in Sun Prairie boy's death

SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- Sun Prairie police have identified the suspect in the death of a 5-year-old boy.

Officers say the suspect is 23-year-old Dakota R. Black. They say Black has been held in the Dane County Jail on an unrelated probation and parole warrant since the day of the incident.

Police responded to a home on Barrington Circle in Sun Prairie on Tuesday, October 22. They found Brayden Turnbill with life-threatening injuries. Turnbill was taken to UW Hospital, but he died on Thursday.

Black is the boyfriend of Turnbill's mother.

The Sun Prairie Police Department says its investigators and the Dane County Sheriff's Office are completing the investigation in an effort to make a charging recommendation.

Officers say the release of further details would compromise the investigation.
