“It’s been an amazing career, and I’ve been blessed to work with a lot of incredible people,” said Kennedy. “It’s been a pleasure to be a part of such an incredible team, but I’m looking forward to what is coming next, and happy to have my family by my side for it.”
“Jeff will be greatly missed,” said Dan Schillinger, KWWL News Director. “He’s the longest-serving meteorologist in eastern Iowa. He’s incredibly skilled, and has a real rapport with viewers. It’s been a pleasure for me to have worked with him.”
Jim McKernan, Vice President and General Manager of KWWL, praised Kennedy’s community involvement.
“He’s been a part of numerous community events throughout the region," McKernan said. "On top of that, his classroom visits make a connection with younger viewers, while educating them about something that affects each and every one of us – the weather.”
Kennedy is originally from Oshkosh, Wis., and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. He began his career at KWWL in 1981.
Jeff has been a long time outdoor enthusiast, enjoying many sports. He also has been a pilot since 1977.
A search for a new StormTrack 7 meteorologist is underway.
