COLUMBIA COUNTY (WKOW) – One person is dead after a semi and an SUV collided Sunday night in Columbia County.
Authorities responded to US 51 at Ramsey Road near DeForest around 9:45 p.m. for a vehicle crash.
According to responding officials, the semi was traveling north on HWY 51 and struck the southbound SUV as it attempted to turn east onto CTH DM.
The driver of the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 33-year-old Henry E. Rayo-Gutierrez of DeForest, suffered non-life threatening injuries but was transported by medflight to the UW Hospital. The passenger in the SUV has died of injuries sustained in the crash and has not been identified.
The driver of the semi, 36-year-old Deacon L. Jones of Holmen, was not injured in the crash.
Authorities say both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
The crash is currently under investigation by the state patrol.
