Movers for Military initiative helps local homeless veterans

MADISON (WKOW) -- On Veterans Day, the country honors the brave men and women who have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms.

Unfortunately, many veterans across the country are struggling with unemployment and homelessness, relying on others to come to their aid as they once did for their country. For such veterans, Two Men and a Truck in Madison, is running the Movers for Military program.

Working in tandem with schools and other community organizations, including the VFW and several KinderCare centers locally, Two Men and a Truck, is collecting essential items for donation to Porchlight, an organization providing critical support to veterans in crisis.
Introduced in 2012, the Movers for Military program collected more than 500 items for donation to homeless veterans in Madison, while also raising awareness to the struggles so many veterans face.
