MADISON (WKOW) -- A piece of art stolen from Union South on the UW-Madison campus has been returned.
UW-Madison Police say tips from the public identified Hildegard Neujahr, 66, of Madison. Monday night Neujahr admitted to UWPD she took the painting from Union South to show her interior designer for color ideas in her home. She told officers she thought it was artwork done by a student, making it acceptable to take. Neujahr was cooperative with police and cited for misdemeanor theft.
The art piece was given to UWPD and will be returned to its home at Union South.
