UPDATE: 27-year-old man killed in Highway 14 crash


TOWN OF RUTLAND (WKOW) -- A crash involving a van and a semi happened around 10:45 Tuesday morning on Highway 14, just north of Highway 92, in the town of Rutland

Dane County Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene and discovered a conversion van had been north on Hwy. 14 when it crossed the centerline and struck a semi head-on.  The 27-year-old male driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner.

The semi driver, 33-year-old Phillip Parker, of Baraboo, suffered minor injuries and was transported to UW Hospital.

A crash reconstruction team from the Wisconsin State Patrol also responded to assist in the investigation. 

The victim's name is not being released at this time. 


BROOKLYN (WKOW) -- The Dane County Sheriff's Office says there is a fatal accident on Highway 14 near Brooklyn.

The accident happened around 10:45 Tuesday morning and involved a semi.  It happened on Highway 14 at Highway 92.  Med Flight had been requested, but was not able to fly due to the weather conditions.

Highway 14 is closed in both directions at this time.  Alternate routes are as follows:  eastbound traffic should take Highway 92 to Highway 104, south to Holt Road and east to Highway 14. 

Northbound Highway 14 should take Holt Avenue to west Highway 104 and back to north Highway 92. 

Southbound traffic should take Highway 14 to Rutland Road, west to County Highway MM and then south to Highway 92.
