TOWN OF CONCORD (WKOW) -- A driver was killed when their car left the road and slammed into a tree Tuesday night in Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department says officers were called to CTH E south of Interstate 94 in the town of Concord around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff Paul Milbrath says it appears a northbound car had trouble going around a curve and it left the road, hitting a tree near the driver's door.
Milbrath says 44-year-old Gaye Baneck of Helenville was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Milbrath says investigators are not sure why the car had trouble going around the curve, but weather and speed may have been factors in the crash.
