DARLINGTON (WKOW) -- Jaren Kuester was in a Lafayette County courtroom Wednesday afternoon where he was found competent to stand trial.
Kuester then pleaded guilty to the April triple murder of Gary and Chloe Thoreson and Gary's brother Dean. Authorities say he killed the three after breaking into a home and stealing clothes and money.
In October, Kuester was found not competent to stand trial, but another exam had been ordered.
Kuester's parents say they tried and failed to get their son institutionalized because of his mental health issues.
Kuester will be back in court at the end of January.
