MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin has been known as America's Dairyland since the early 1900's. It became the official license plate slogan in 1940.
But, lately, the state has struggled to live up to that reputation. For example, we lead the nation in cheese production, but, 10% of the milk to make it has to be imported from other states.
In this episode of 'Our Wisconsin', several Wisconsin dairy owners will show us what it's like being a farmer today.
We'll find out what family farms are doing to keep their operations growing into the next generation.
We'll follow the milk trail from the cow to the cooler to the creamery. Plus, we'll see how the world is getting a bigger taste of what Wisconsin has to offer.
