MADISON (WKOW) -- University of Wisconsin System officials say they expect to announce the finalists for the system president position on December 23.
Board of Regents President Michael Falbo told regents the news Friday, adding that the final interviews are set for January 6 and 7.
Current system president Kevin Reilly announced in July he planned to resign at the end of the year, after receiving intense criticism from Republican legislators for allowing system campuses to build large reserves while raising tuition year after year. Reilly defended the reserves as a way to protect the system in the face of declining financial support from the state, but Republicans claim he and other system officials needlessly overcharged students.
