Madison man arrested for 5th OWI

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison man is currently being held at the Dane County Jail after his 5th OWI offense.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office, about 11:00 p.m. on Friday a concerned citizen called in a possible impaired motorist driving on the rim of a blown out tire.  A Dane County Sheriff's Office Deputy initiated a traffic stop on County Highway J at County Highway G, in the Town of Springdale.

Thirty-nine-year-old Ernest J. Newel of Madison was arrested for his 5th OWI Offense. He was also cited for Inattentive Driving and Expired Registration.

He is currently being held in the Dane County Jail.
