MADISON (WKOW) -- Local law enforcement agencies joined together Sunday to help less fortunate children.
Police officers took dozens of kids on a special shopping trip for the annual 'Shop with a Cop' event. They met at an east side Target before combing the store for some gifts.
"Sometimes children just don't get to get a good interaction with police officers and this is the perfect opportunity for them and that police officer," Monona Police Officer James Reiter tells 27 News.
This is the 13th year of the program and eight law enforcement agencies took part. Officers were paired up with a buddy for the shopping spree. Police say the goal is for the officers to maintain those positive relationships with the kids.
