ASHLAND, Wis. (WKOW) -- Ashland City Councilwoman, Kelly Westlund, says she plans to run for Republican U.S. Representative Sean Duffy's seat in 2014.
Westlund said Monday she will officially launch her campaign on Tuesday during an event in Wausau.
Westlund has been on the Ashland council nearly two years and it's the only political position she's ever held.
Duffy won election to Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District in 2010 and was re-elected in 2012. Before his time in Congress, Duffy worked eight years as a district attorney.
Campaign finance reports show Duffy had $685,000 cash on hand through the end of September.
