Man found slumped over the wheel; cited for OWI

MADISON (WKOW) -- A concerned citizen contacted Madison police just after 4:00 Saturday morning after noticing a man slumped behind the wheel of a car.

The vehicle was stopped in traffic at the intersection of E. Washington Avenue and N. Stoughton Road, still running.  The lights were on and the driver's foot was on the brake.

After police were unable to awaken a driver early Saturday morning, firefighters were called to smash out a passenger side window.

Later, when the driver was awake and inside an ambulance, an officer asked if he knew why he was in the ambulance.  20-year-old David Dupree's response: "Because you pulled me over?"

Dupree was cited for several offenses, including OWI - first offense.
