Janesville man hit by semi identified

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- A 46-year-old man has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a semi on I-39.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Dennis R. Bell of Janesville crashed into a guardrail Monday morning, got out of his car and walked into traffic on the northbound lanes of the highway.

A semi, driven by 35-year-old Mark Nesson of Sun Prairie, hit him.  It happened near 167 West.

Nesson was not hurt.

Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville confirmed Tuesday it is treating Bell.  However, at the family's request, the hospital is not providing an update on his condition.
